Winter 2025: Sky Gazing / Murmuration

Our incredible Art & Writing Class created this beautiful murmuration design for this year’s Winter card. As well as evoking this time of year, the image and poem, written collectively by the group, speaks to the experiences of many of our community – migration, safety and freedom.

Birds migrate

Seeing landscapes of safety and freedom

Making borderless crossings

Hopeful songbirds wake us at dawn

Singing of happiness

Sky gazing

Clouds mutate into sea scapes

And a pelican fishes on a lake

A garland of nature

Delights the eyes

Passion flowers bring

Flower memories

Artist Spotlight

Patience has been coming to the Centre for the last couple years and is a regular attendee of the Art & Writing class. She shared: “I like coming to the Islington Centre because I like painting and I like to make friends. It is good for my mental health and I feel happy when I come here.”
