Many of our clients had to leave friends and families when they left their country of origin. After traumatic journeys to the UK, many of them arrive in London, and find themselves alone. Lacking English skills and social connections, and experiencing poverty and poor emotional and physical wellbeing, this group find it very hard to feel like they are part of the community.
As part of our focus on wellbeing, we work to help our clients enjoy their time in our community, building friendships and social connections. Clients know that ICRM is a safe space that they can go to to relax, make and meet friends, and find a friendly person to listen to them. We also offer weekly social activities, such as our Knitting Group and Book Club, together with our arts and skills development activities.
We support our clients to explore London and beyond, working with partners to deliver a range of social activities: trips to galleries and museums, our Fun Day with Haberdashers’ Aske, and picnics and parties.
