Activities for Physical Wellbeing

We believe in supporting the whole person, emotionally, psychologically, intellectually and physically. We work closely with our partner, Mary’s Community Centre, in Islington to offer opportunities for people to improve their physical wellbeing.

We know how important exercise is, not just physically, but also for bringing people together and creating a sense of community. We are currently planning a broad schedule of sports activities with Mary’s and are in the process of seeking funding. If we are able to secure funding, we would like to offer:

  • Gym sessions at Mary’s Community gym
  • Yoga
  • Swimming
  • Boxing

A lack of English and insecure immigraiton status mean it can be a struggle for our clients to get the right medical treatment and medical advice. We offer regular sexual health advice sessions with CLASH and over the last year we have had dental students from MUDAE (Manchester University Dental Awareness and Empowerment) visiting virtually to describe how to access dental care and what to expect.

We support the Government’s Covid vaccination policy and help clients who want to be vaccinated find vaccination centres. Meanwhile, we have been extremely lucky to have Dr Rachael, a GP Registrar from Newcastle give Covid information sessions to our clients online.
